This Question will Change the Way You Read Your Bible

A different question to ask when you approach your daily Bible reading time

Every time we approach God’s Word- whether for study, sermon prep, or just our daily devotional- there’s an unspoken question we’re always asking ourselves: What does this mean to me?

But is that the best approach to Scripture- especially when it comes to some of those, ahem, BORING passages of the Bible? I suggest another way in my latest for The Christian Post…

A memory from last weekend I’d like to share

Last weekend- at just about the time the previous newsletter was being sent out- I had the honor of baptizing my grandparents at the Indian Creek near our family farm.

Southwest Missouri

As much as I’d love to share some family pics from the event, they are very private people and I don’t want to violate their privacy. I am just so blessed by the experience that it’s hard for me to hold it in, so I thought I’d share it with my fellow “weirdos” 🙂

God has been good to me this year!

(fun fact: this is the same creek where both myself and my parents were baptized as well, though not in this exact spot pictured)

ICYMI: Wednesday’s episode

On this past Wednesday’s podcast episode, we started defining the various terms in Ephesians 6:12 (Principalities, Authorities, Cosmic Powers and Spiritual Hosts of Wickedness). In case you missed it, you can listen here:

This Wednesday’s episode will continue that journey, as we have more to say on these spiritual entities and how they operate. If you need a refresher on them before then, here’s the Greek words we studied (and their NKJV counterparts):

  • Arche (or principalities): the spiritual beings at the top of the demonic totem pole. These are the spirits who are given ownership of various sectors of the earth.

  • Exousia (or powers): I don’t believe this refers to a specific type of being, but about the range of authority that demonic spirits have. For example, if the fallen angel who is the principality over France is an Arche, then everywhere within France falls under his Exousia. It refers to his dominion.

  • Kosmokrator (or rulers of the darkness): a Greek compound word combining cosmos (world) with krator (dominion). This refers to spiritual entities who have a firm grip of control over a person or territory.

  • Pneumatikos (or spiritual hosts of wickedness): the low-level (yet still dangerous) demonic spirits who spend their days trying to afflict humans and tempt them into sin.

On this past Wednesday’s episode, we mainly focused on the relationship between the Pneumatikos and Kosmokrators. The Pneumatikos want to tempt us into sin so that they can create a “legal right” for a Kosmokrator to gain control.

On the upcoming episode, we’ll explore the relationship between Kosmokrators and Arche spirits- “How a Principality is Established in a Territory.”

So have a great week and a Weird Wednesday!
